Why Should You Use Recycled Plastic Composites In Your Commercial Landscape Design

Sydney Commercial Landscapers are eco-friendly by the mere nature of their business.  Whilst you would think every eco-friendly had to be 100% natural it is sometimes more eco-friendly to save forests and use composites. Here are the reasons:

Recycling And Durability

Plastic composites are more durable than timber because of their flexibility. Timber’s organic nature causes splitting, snapping, splintering, grazing, and chipping, and rotting. Even with maintenance, it is still attractive to mould.  For timber to survive effectively in landscaping it needs to be sealed.

Composites are nonporous, insect proof, mould proof, chemical proof and can withstand enormous amounts of wear and tear and physical forces.

UV Resistance

Wet and humid countries cause wood to rot and severely dry countries like Australia throw large doses of UV radiation at products.  UV radiation is an invisible destroyer of wood fibres, making them prone to cracking, warping, or splintering. Unless waterproof sealer and UV light sealer is applied every 6 to 12 months you can be reassured your fence will bend, creak and collapse.

Waste reduction

Globally, the construction industry has a very poor waste record of 43% which is a massive contributor to landfill.  Some reports state that it contributes more than one-third of the world’s waste. The solution is to take waste and recycle it thus avoiding landfill. This waste-reducing composite product also saves rainforest timber!

Cost Efficiency

The initial price of timber might appear a bargain but there are lots of hidden costs in timber maintenance year after year. The sealants and oils to protect timber can often contain chemicals which are not environmentally friendly.

Over the entire life span, plastic lumber more than makes up for its higher purchasing price, providing a truly economical option to those who want quality and longevity.

Science

Common ingredients in composite timbers are diverse but mostly consist of eco-friendly natural materials and waste material. The mixture is usually 90% recycled and reused plastic and, for example, rice husk or peanut shells mixed with some pigments and fillers.  More importantly, the composition has UV absorbers which add enormously to the stability and longevity, thus toughness, of the product.

Due to the longevity, there will be no need to replace and consume additional resources.  The product is also made resistant to warping by the long chain polyolefin molecules.

All these attributes make the product perfect for suspended verandahs, rooftop decking, hotel pool decking, outdoor benching, commercial landscape pathways and bridges, cladding, fencing and gates.
